Life as an art form

Through the way we live, art is manifested in our ideas, our ambients, philosophies, movements, spaces and ways of inhabiting; being human.

Our most intimate space, where we spend at least a third of our lives, should be a space that enlightens our life, a space were we feel comfortable, and make us happier and healthier.

Global population is likely to hit 8.6 billion, adding 1.1 billion people, by mid-2030. The need to house over one billion extra people makes the creation of enough sustainable, well designed, and affordable housing one of the biggest and most urgent on our planet.

Based on current projections from the UN, 2.5 trillion sq. ft. of new buildings will be constructed worldwide by 2060. In the US, 3,300 new homes start construction everyday, and still, a huge percentage of the population is priced out of housing in most major cities. Younger generations are spending over 45% of their income on housing, a number that is completely unsustainable.

Our mission is to democratize housing.

We believe we can achieve this by developing new types of housing that are specifically designed for our quickly evolving modes of living. We are living in a highly individualized society, the spaces we inhabit should fit our current ways of living.

Thanks to technology, people’s lifestyles have shifted, there is more value placed on experience and community than ownership. People are extremely mobile and more interested in practicality and flexibility. And although advances have been made on the development of software to facilitate this, the hardware, meaning buildings, has not been updated in decades. That’s one of the main reasons we are launching Madelon Group, our startup focused on HaaS (Housing as a Service).

We believe we can achieve our mission of creating more affordable experience driven living through technology by completely rethinking how housing is financed, designed, built and operated.

We see housing as a tool, a tool to make people’s lives better, to enable community to flourish, to create better neighborhoods, to make cities more democratic, and to have a more sustainable planet — a tool to achieve an enlightened society.

In our current times, it has been impossible to realign values of art and commodity into an integral dwelling model. There is a need for an even more comprehensive ‘master builder’, one that is informed by technology and the ever-changing financial and social needs of individuals.

If life is a form of art, the spaces we inhabit should be our own personal museums.
